Todd Luke — July 2022 Update

Mexico

Dear friends,

Thank you for the prayers, gifts, and hands-on participation that have made 2022 a very good year.

Cisterns Built in 2022

March
Four cisterns in the Village of Felipe Angeles. It was our first time building there. We worked side by side with fantastic families who love the Lord and will not hesitate to break a sweat and get their hands dirty.

May
Four cisterns in the town of Xpujil for four families who live beyond the reach of the town’s water works system that only distributes water about once a week (if that). We hesitate to build cisterns in our county seat because the need is so great elsewhere. But these families showed us how they lack clean water as badly as families in other villages.

June and Early July
Twelve cisterns in the village of Guillermo Prieto. We were excited to return because the families worked so well with Victor, Raul, Isaias, Ezequias, Diego, and the rest of the crew back in 2020.

Late July and Early August
We will build ten cisterns in the village of Ley de Fomento. This is another community that over the years has formed a solid relationship with our local crew.

New Cistern Mold
Each mold has a life span of about four years. We cannot build without strong molds. Our newest mold was paid for with loan repayment funds provided by hundreds of our satisfied cistern owners.

Celebration of a Life Well Lived
On June 20, 2022, Bob Gammon passed away at his home in Cordova, Tennessee. He was a dear friend of our cistern ministry. For many years, Bob made annual visits to Xpujil to build cisterns. His final cistern work trip was back in March, a week before his 81st birthday. We are grateful that his wife, Eve, allowed him to visit so often.

On separate occasions, Bob brought both his son (twice) and a grandson to build cisterns with him. Bob’s son, Russell, crafted a video that beautifully shows how our cistern ministry works. Bob’s own creativity was revealed when he wrote a cistern ministry children’s book.

Our local partners loved to see Bob at the work site with his solar-powered hat with a built-in fan. Like his hat, Bob was one of a kind. He inspired many with his steadfast desire to put service before self. Many folks he worked with in Mexico knew neither his advanced age nor that he was legally blind. In this time of heartfelt loss, we find comfort in knowing Bob is now able to dance joyfully with his Heavenly Father.

Thanks again for all you do to support our little clean water ministry. Please keep those prayers coming our way! May we see the Lord’s daily blessings that fall like rain upon each of us.
