Don and Martha Wehmeyer — July 2022 Update

Yucatán, Mexico

Dear friends,

It is good to write to Outreach Foundation supporters. Martha and I have been blessed by your ministry for over 30 years!

Hopefully, we are near the end of the COVID pandemic. The whole country of Mexico is most anxious that it be so. The burden it has placed on the church and society has been enormous. During the worst part, most government agencies, including schools and courts, shut down. Now we have elementary school children who cannot read or write going into the second, third, and fourth grades unprepared (except the few who were taught at home). In the court systems, men and women have lived up to two years in jail and still do not know what their crimes are. Often, in Mexico, when a person embezzles funds, for example, the whole accounting department is arrested until the situation is clarified. Additionally, many small businesses closed, and inflation, while not near the levels in the U.S., is still a heavy load on people who earn their wages daily. Please keep these issues in your prayers.

On a happy note, here is a picture of me with a book I was able to publish. The Discovery, A Pilgrimage of Gifts and Treasures is a series of curious thoughts and events that guide and shape a young seeker until he finally meets the Lord. I had a great deal of fun writing it over two years. The little stories seemed to pop into my head, and I would then run around looking for a pen and paper to write them down. If you are interested, you should be able to get it from Amazon books online.

The church that Martha and I lead, Followers of Christ, is staying active. This summer we have tutoring classes two days a week for elementary school children. We will host a four-day Vacation Bible School at the end of July. The seminary has been running on video classes but prayerfully at the end of August, we will be with students in the classroom once again.

I have also traveled several times to Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Mexico City to teach pastors and church leaders. The first picture was taken in Chiapas. We are scheduled to return in mid-January.

I try to answer all emails as quickly as possible. Please write us if you have specific questions about the ministry: dwehmeyer2@gmail.com. We are once again open for mission teams, and COVID tests are no longer required to return to the U.S. as of right now.

There are many requests in different parts of the country, so please pray to see where the Lord might be leading you in this service. Mission teams are like a revival for local churches that receive them.

Blessings to you and your churches.

We serve the Lord with gladness,

Don and Martha Wehmeyer
