José Carlos Pezini - August 2021 Update

Dear brothers and sisters,  

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”   Philippians 1:3-6

Brothers and sisters, may the blessings of God the Father be with you all for the expressions of affection and generosity that you have shown to us. As the Apostle Paul prayed for the Philippian brothers and sisters, Odete and I pray for you.

Crisis context…

Even after more than 15 months of living with COVID-19, God has used us to effectively continue our ministry. How wonderful God is! We have experienced grief, tears, and fear here in Brazil. We have lost friends, neighbors, and relatives to this pandemic. We have been praying and crying out to God for mercy. And we still don't know how much longer the pandemic will last.

The ministry continues despite the crisis...

We have had to reinvent ourselves ministerially. The work has more than doubled, demanding a lot of effort and dedication. Yet our ministry has continued. The testimonies we have received from pastors are very encouraging and motivate us to continue working with joy.

I have been mentoring four groups of pastors using the Zoom platform. Each group has ten pastors. We meet once a month for two hours, in addition to having face-to-face meetings throughout the month. It's been a blessing. We have also encouraged mentors and coordinators for SARA ministries to meet virtually with the pastors of their regional groups, as we still cannot hold retreats. They have done a great job.

I have also preached and taught courses virtually. It makes our hearts happy to hear several pastors testify that their lives have not been the same since they found us.

I also serve as a consultant for the Independent Presbyterian Church where I have helped them plant several churches. My book on prayer, published by Editora Esperança, is now available and ready to bless all those who wish to have a closer relationship with God.

The Outreach Foundation is seeking gifts totaling $95,000 for ministry and support funds for Pezini and $5,000 to defray costs of attending SARA retreats for pastors who cannot afford them.
