San Pablo Presbyterian Theological Seminary — August 2022 Update

Mérida, Yucatán

Dear friends,

San Pablo Presbyterian Theological Seminary trains theology students from 20 Mexican states, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Chile, and Columbia. Many students are fluent in Mayan which is a predominant language in southern Mexico and Guatemala.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, San Pablo continues training leaders and pastors to fulfill the Great Commission, Rev. Amós Cahuich Yam, rector, recently sent highlights from the August 2021 to June 2022 school year:

While we began the fall of 2021 semester with online-only courses, we were blessed to welcome students back on campus for the spring 2022 semester. It was energizing to see students interacting directly with their professors and their peers again. It also greatly helped our sacred music students to be able to play and sing together in person.

We ended the spring semester with 22 students taking in-person courses and 35 online. We had an additional 25 students attending an online biblical counseling certificate program. This is a two-year program.

On June 10, 2022, 22 students graduated — four in the sacred music program and 18 in theology. Of these graduates, ten earned bachelor’s degrees to be pastors, and eight earned master’s degrees. We look forward to welcoming more students for the fall semester which begins on August 15.
