PCEA Church Construction in Kenya - February 2021 Update

Dedication of PCEA Kirathimo – Njoro Church, Njoro Presbytery

On February 21, we dedicated PCEA Kirathimo Church. Because of COVID, the congregation waited a year for us to complete the church. The foundation stone was laid in November 2019 in anticipation of a group coming in March 2020 but they were unable to travel, so The Outreach Foundation completed the work in January 2021. The project included the church and two classrooms.

We first dedicated the two classrooms for the 71 children that currently attend. They would like to continue building two classrooms a year until eight are completed, which is a complete primary school.

When I spoke to the church, I thanked them for their patience. We had a small amount of money remaining after construction, and I told them we would help with the tiling of the church floors. Our money would cover about half the cost. Before the service was completed, they had raised funds for the other half. They were all so excited and grateful for their new beautiful church.

The Moderator of the Presbytery conducted the sermon. It came from 2 Chronicles 7: 1-15. He preached on the dedication of the church and the rededicating of ourselves also.

The original church is a small, dark, mud-floor mabati structure. They plan on renovating it and using it for Sunday School classes and a nursery school.

After lunch we left for our four-hour drive back to home base. I came away feeling comfortable that the school would grow and that the church would double in size in the next year.

Grateful for your partnership,
