Gujranwala Theological Seminary Update

Pakistan

Gujranwala Theological Seminary (GTS) has been serving congregations, parachurch ministries, theological institutions, and their leaders throughout Pakistan for 145 years. As we prepare to celebrate with them, we want to highlight three of their recent graduates. God is doing great things in this very difficult part of the Christian world.

Khashia completed her MDiv in 2018. She serves as a youth coordinator at Open Theological Seminary in Lahore. She was one of only a few women to earn an MDiv but reports that she sees more women receiving advanced theological education. Women play an integral, if not formal, role in building up God’s church in this part of the world. She writes, “I am grateful to my Lord and GTS for enabling me to strengthen women’s groups in Pakistani churches.”

Rev. Patrias come to GTS in 2016 having completed a master's in communications. In 2019 he completed his MDiv with distinction. His focus of studies was the Old Testament prophets. He has a deep heart for young people to know Jesus. So he’s glad to be serving as a well-trained leader with the Pakistan Fellowship of Evangelical Students. He credits GTS for having taught him how to preach effectively, teach, and interpret the biblical text in a way that students will be able to understand for the rest of their lives. Patrias is one of the bright lights in Pakistan and we celebrate his ministry!

Rev. Sarfraz, who completed his MDiv in 2014, is another bright light serving the Lord at a flourishing Presbyterian congregation in Kachiphatoman. His ministry is growing among women and youth. Pictured here, left, he regularly teaches Bible studies to small groups gathered in homes. GTS equipped him well for his ministry, and God has expanded his influence through an appointment as chaplain at the Christian Technical Training Institute.

What is the need?

The Outreach Foundation is glad to partner with Gujranwala Theological Seminary in direct support of current students. We want to make these next five years among the strongest in its history! We will do this by coming alongside students to provide scholarships so they can complete their studies without added pressures of finding employment. This is the number one need that GTS leadership has reported to us.
