Forman Christian College - November 2020 Update

Lahore, Pakistan

Forman Christian College (founded in 1864 by Presbyterian missionary Charles Forman) continues to educate men and women, Christians, Muslims and Sikh students under the leadership of a Christian board led by the school motto, “By love serve one another.”

Denationalized and returned to Christian control from the government of Pakistan in 2003, Forman quietly has become again an educational leader in the liberal arts and sciences as it prepares men and women with moral values for peaceful service to their churches, communities, and nations.

In 2019 FCC graduated 928 students – 442 were women and 115 Christians. As COVID-19 hit Pakistan in 2020, Forman was able to move over 900 courses online and continue education at a distance. They are now using a hybrid model with ½ of the student body on campus at a time.

80% of the Christians who attend Forman need scholarships and many become the major wage earners for their families after graduation. Forman’s chapel program meets weekly and serves many students and their biblical studies department is one of the only state-accredited programs in the country.

We recently received testimonials from two FCC students:

Through generations, my family has been suffering in a vicious cycle of poverty. By gaining a quality education, I will make myself eligible for a good job which will improve our condition and ultimately lead us out of poverty. I believe that FCC is the best institute for Christian students to pursue their education as Forman Christian College looks out for the children of our community and helps them through financial aid and scholarships if needed. Moreover, FCC also takes care of our spiritual and religious education and growth which we cannot find at any other university.

- Sager

Education is vital to me because I want to be an independent, confident working lady who can stand on her own feet. In addition to this, I want to support my family and uplift our standard of living. I want to change the future of my family.

I want to prove to the world that daughters are no less, and their contributions count just as much.

FCC has some of the best faculty members in the country, they are not just teachers but also mentors who are willing to guide and motivate us every step of the way. I am greatly indebted to Forman Christian College and its generous benefactors who have truly brought light to my life and made such a positive impact.

- Amen
