Partner Update: Namumu Orphanage Center
In a time of transition, Namumu Orphanage Center is an oasis of health and life in their community. God is moving, and children are learning, growing, and flourishing thanks to your faithfulness. The following is just a glimpse of this inspiring environment for families.
Graduation is not just a milestone. It’s a victory!
At Namumu Orphanage Center in the rural community of Siavonga, Zambia, children without a family find a nurturing home where there is encouragement, faith, hope, and love. They also find a future when they receive a quality education at local schools such as Mubuyu Christian Academy. Since 2018, Namumu has successfully sponsored 12 young women through graduation. This is an opportunity which would have been impossible without the support of faithful partners through The Outreach Foundation.
Recently Director Siakwale Matomola, along with Board Chairperson Mrs. Edith Mutelo and Board Member Ms. Dyness Hamalengwa, celebrated the commencement of another young woman who came to Namumu when she was in the first grade. It was a proud moment for everyone.
Three more graduates are pursuing health programs in higher institutions with expected completion next year. Some graduates even secured spots in college for the upcoming year.
Through the generous support of many, including The Outreach Foundation, a new Medical Clinic was recently dedicated on their campus. Next to a beautiful spreading banyan tree, the Clinic offers medical care in this rural setting, which is 25 miles from the nearest hospital. Now mothers do not need to travel long distances in ox carts or on bicycles to deliver their babies. They receive better pediatric care and healing from a host of illnesses.
Under the leadership of Director Matomola and the board, Namumu is charting a new future. With the movement in Africa to place orphans with extended family or foster parents, the Center is retooling, not only to serve children in the home, but also to train young people with vocational skills. This will allow those who cannot afford higher education to support themselves and bless their communities.
“Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission,” Siakwale says, “Together, we are making a lasting impact in the lives of these young women and men and our community.”
