Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries — January 2024 Update

Faisalabad, Pakistan

The Outreach Foundation is pleased to announce that on December 14 our partner Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries welcomed a new director, Reverend Akash Emmanuel! Outreach Executive Director Mark Mueller sent a congratulatory letter to Akash and the PCRM board. This is a significant transition as the next generation of Christian men and women begin to step into leadership roles in ministries throughout Pakistan. Rev. Emmanuel, a Presbyterian pastor from Faisalabad, will build on PCRM’s legacy of witness among the majority Muslim population in rural areas of Pakistan. Akash has been with PCRM as an assistant director for several years and has earned the trust of his board and the staff.

Akash has been instrumental in launching some new initiatives such as Eman ka Baani (Author of Faith). This program, broadcasted via short-wave radio and made available on social media, is focused on the personality, life, miracles, and teachings of Jesus Christ. Thus far the program has led to multiple discrete conversations by majority population listeners hungry for the gospel. These conversations are deepened at listeners’ conferences where listeners from the majority Muslim population can freely and discretely ask about Jesus, the gospel, and Christian living.

During our visit in 2022, we heard about PCRM’s vision for implementing video in its programming. We connected our newest partner in the region, PAK 7, with PCRM’s leadership and together they birthed a new initiative for television audiences. Currently, there are three programs, each of which is receiving an increased level of response than previous programming. These responses are important and where the deeper work of witnessing about Jesus takes place among the majority Muslim population.

Rah-e-Nijat (The Way of Salvation) is a 30-minute teaching focused on apologetics and philosophy that answers key questions viewers have asked. This is important because the dominant presentation of Christianity in national media is in a debate format with Christians always losing and appearing to be ill-equipped to answer deep questions.

Naya Geet (A New Song) is a 30-minute podcast featuring gospel singers and inspirational Christian leaders. With music as the main attraction, guests share their personal testimonies and the challenges of the Christian life. It has broad appeal for younger generations of new believers and older believers who continue to wonder how best to follow Jesus in a context of persecution.

Nanhay Pairokar (Young Followers) is specifically designed for children. A host shares various Bible stories with a group of several children, fostering discussion and interaction with the kids. Children learn gospel songs in the Urdu language. Meeting the communication needs of children and their parents through television is a vital means of seeing the gospel flourish in Pakistan.

As PCRM seeks to remain relevant in Pakistan across multiple media platforms, The Outreach Foundation wishes to bless this work. Let us continue to hold PCRM’s new director, Reverend Akash Emmanuel, in our prayers as he labors faithfully despite difficult challenges in areas of Pakistan where persecution is intense.
