Prayer Request for Kenyan Elections

We just received this prayer request from Lauren Scharstein, Deputy Director of Mission for the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in Kenya:

Dear friends of PCEA,

Receive Christian greetings. We ask that you join with us in prayers for peace and security, as Kenyans go to the polls to elect a new president on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

In the past, national elections have been a time of increased tension, uncertainty, and even violence. The 2007 presidential election led to the displacement of more than 50,000 people and the deaths of more than 1,500 people in a month-long spree of conflict.

We are praying that this election will move forward in an atmosphere of civility and peaceful coexistence, even for those who support different candidates. May God grant us the ability to live together as brothers and sisters in one nation.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.

Lauren
