Haiti Outreach Ministries — Desperation and Dedication

One of our Terre Noire church members receiving a cholera prevention kit

Dear friends,

There is a piece of very good news to share. After two long months, the blockade of the main fuel terminal has been lifted, and fuel is starting to flow again. While fuel remains expensive, its availability provides a glimmer of hope. This article from The Haitian Times explains 10 major ways Haitians rely on fuel products to live their day-to-day lives and why the end of the blockade is so significant. (You may have to enter an email to view the entire piece.)

The other news you should know is that our Haitian staff are as dedicated as ever. As the cholera epidemic continues, our medical clinic staff have distributed 850 cholera prevention kits so that families can protect themselves from this deadly disease. At the schools, the teachers prepare lessons that students can do at home; the lessons are printed and are being sent home with notebooks and a supply of emergency food for the entire family. The churches continue to hold Sunday services and are even training new musicians to participate in the music ministry that is so vital to the Haitian worship experience.

Thank you for the many crisis response donations that have been made and for your continued prayers. Together let's believe and pray that tomorrow will be a new and better day for Haiti.

Peace,

Caroline Chambre Hammock
Executive Director
