Mini Libraries for Church Leaders in China - November 2020 Update

The Church in China is developing Chinese-language resources for training new believers. The Outreach Foundation partners with the Church at the provincial level, particularly in Shandong and Jiangsu, to make more of these resources available to them. We also work with a Hong Kong-based ministry, Christian Communications Ltd. (CCL), to ensure that graduates of each of the seminaries in China, along with leaders studying in several lay training centers, receive discipleship training materials, concordances, and other written resources as part of a “min-library” which each graduate receives. Last year alone, The Outreach Foundation made possible the distribution of study Bibles with notes by Chinese authors and books to thousands of pastoral leaders graduating from ten seminaries and Bible schools. We received this update from Matthew Fung, CCL Associate General Secretary:

May the peace and love of our Lord be with you and your family in the days of turmoil!

Christian Communications Limited (CCL) is grateful to partner with The Outreach Foundation for Christ’s kingdom over a decade with the vision to build faithful servants through book-gifting projects - the Graduates Book Package and the Servant-leaders Study Bible. Through the long-term and whole-team commitment of The Outreach Foundation, from 2012-2019, over 24,000 seminary graduates and church leaders have been equipped by these resources. This year, due to the pandemic and severe flooding in many regions in China, all graduations were delayed. In his grace, the books still managed to be delivered into the hands of graduates - 806 sets!

For your prayers:

•           The coronavirus pandemic continues and in June, heavy rains swept across China for weeks, from the southwest to the east coast. Severe flooding covered 1/6 of China and affected 27 provinces. The accumulated rainfall reached its highest level since 1961. Numerous people were left homeless, jobless, and their pastures, farmland, and houses were destroyed or submerged.

•           Since August, the book-gifting ministry has slowed down significantly. Schools and local churches are now shifted to raise supplies and funds. The frontline pastors are busy providing comfort and aid to those needing it. Please keep all these pastors in prayer. May God guide them on how to send comfort and consolation to those sufferers especially in the seriously flooded regions.

•           In the next two months, 10 schools (about 500 sets of books) are scheduled to have graduations, but they are still subject to flooding and pandemic. May God provide the resources for preparation and guide the Book-gifting ministry on how to empower the leaders and walk with them.

Stay healthy and stay strong in the Lord!

Blessings,
Matthew Fung
