Rich history

Waking up to another early morning, with a 5:30 wake-up call, we prepared to start our day of seeing God’s beautiful creation in Egypt. After eating breakfast outside in the incredible weather, we loaded up the bus to start our journey to Abu Simbel.

Mourad, our ever trusty tour guide, continued to be a wealth of information along our 3-hour ride. Along with Mourad’s detailed explanations, we gazed at the deserts of Egypt, setting the scene of adventure this day would hold, and proving God’s great glory.

Upon the arrival at Abu Simbel, we filed down to the temples to sightsee. True to its reputation set by Agatha Christie, it was a sight to see after a long bus ride, and Mourad’s insistence that we not peek early. The rich history behind the temples kept us entertained for quite some time until we headed off to lunch.

Visiting another Nubian restaurant, we filled ourselves with incredible food. Then loading up, we began one long bus ride back to the Hotel Basma. By the time we returned, the sun had set and we closed the evening with an early night.
