In recent years, and due to regional hostilities, the number of refugees living in Egypt has dramatically increased. Countless Palestinians have arrived through the Rafah border crossing, coming with nothing but the clothes on their backs, fleeing the violence and uncertainty back home.

Taking Jesus’ words seriously in the Gospel of Matthew, the Pastoral, Outreach, and Mission Council (POMC) of the Synod of the Nile has risen to the occasion and responded quickly to the growing crisis. Our partner is doing so much more than developing new churches.

Lebanon, a country that has endured armed conflict and hostilities for three generations, experienced a sharp intensification of violence in the past two months. Beirut and other parts of the country experienced devastating strikes and intensified military activity, including repeated evacuation orders and widening geographic impact. It has triggered large-scale displacement across Lebanon.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Compassion Protestant Society, the diaconal arm of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL), has courageously responded to the crisis in a manner that is both operationally realistic and faithful to its calling.

For many years, The Outreach Foundation has worked with partners in western Ethiopia in six United Nations refugee camps. Hundreds of thousands of refugees remain in the camps. Through partnership with U.S. churches and donors, we have been blessed to minister to and provide hope through trauma healing, Bibles in the Nuer language, and Christian education. A retired Outreach consultant recently traveled to Ethiopia and was given permission to visit several camps. He was hosted by the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) West Gambella Synod. Here are excerpts from the report:
