Church Construction: Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Zambia
Outstanding in their field…literally. The Chongwe church planted roots in a field, and now, through faithful prayer and gifts from The Outreach Foundation supporters, their efforts are yielding fruit.
This Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Zambia Synod congregation began as a prayer meeting launched by the Mtendere Church, 28 miles to the east of the capital city, Lusaka. After planting the seed of the Gospel through evangelistic efforts, they witnessed a harvest of two prayer meetings with 25-50 members at each.
To strengthen discipleship, the Synod sent the Rev. Frainess Shawa to be their pastor in 2024. Since then, the congregation has grown to 135 members. When the congregation outgrew rented space at the Chongwe secondary school, the Synod purchased land. For a time, the people worshiped outside in a field. Then, members dug and erected a foundation. Thanks to financial support through The Outreach Foundation and others, the congregation has made significant progress in building a home for the church.
The Impact
The Chongwe church sees great potential and a plentiful harvest ahead. They hope to reproduce and plant more churches. It is strategically located to advance evangelism into the newly established Lufunsa District and later Luangwa.
Rev. Shawa says, “As the parish minister, I am deeply grateful for your prayers and support, which continue to strengthen our mission of spreading the Gospel and nurturing discipleship in the region.”
As Paul says, “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building” (1 Corinthians 3:9).
Let’s work together with God to see God’s building rise from God’s field.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Outreach Foundation seeks gifts to support the mission and ministry of the Chongwe church and the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Zambia (CCAP). Please pray and consider if Jesus is calling you to partner with them in sowing the seed of the Gospel. They need assistance to do wiring, flooring, plastering, painting, and building a restroom.
