Building Classrooms for John Laing School: CCAP Community School Construction

It’s hard to teach with your back against the wall, but that’s exactly where educators found themselves in the cramped and crowded classrooms of the John Laing School – a Community School of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in the Synod of Zambia. More than 200 eager learners were squeezed into three 5x5 meter (about 16x16 feet) rooms. The only place for the teacher to stand was against the chalkboard. Such tight quarters make education almost impossible. Imagine how hard it is for teachers and students to stay focused when there is no place to stand!

Thanks in part to your faithful support through The Outreach Foundation, a new classroom block was constructed, three existing classrooms were renovated, and 20 new desks were recently added! Teachers report, “These developments have enhanced the learning environment and increased the school’s capacity to accommodate more pupils.”

Educators are excited to lift these children out of illiteracy, to provide them with an excellent start in math, science, and language, and to establish them on a strong foundation of faith in Jesus.

The Outreach Foundation is proud to partner with the CCAP Community Schools, so every child is welcomed to the journey of learning. For Jesus says, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” Mark 9:37.
