México Partnership August 2025 Update
Reaching the Lost in Southern México
Deep in the tropical lowland forests of southern México, the Lion of Judah is on the move. In the southern state of Campeche, the Presbyterian church in the small village of Manuel Castilla Brito is answering the call to bring light to neighboring communities. In partnership with the National Presbyterian Church of México and The Outreach Foundation, Iglesia El Buen Pastor (Church of the Good Shepherd), led by Pastor Eleazar López, has embarked on a bold mission to reach four nearby villages with the gospel.
This region, where most of the population speaks Chol—a Mayan dialect—is challenging. Evangelical churches are absent, and many residents practice a blend of witchcraft called Santería, and Catholicism. The area also faces deep social challenges, including drug use and alcoholism.
In 2024, Pastor López and his congregation felt led to engage a church planter to sow seeds of faith in these communities. First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, already active in Outreach Foundation cistern-building projects in Campeche, graciously agreed to come alongside Iglesia El Buen Pastor in this outreach effort.
In November 2024, Elder Raúl Vázquez, standing in the photo on the left, accepted the call to serve as a church planter in the villages of Manatiel and Tres Huastecas. By God’s grace, the fruits of his labor are already evident. A house church has been established in Manatiel, where five families now gather for Sunday worship and Wednesday Bible study. Similar gatherings are forming in Tres Huastecas, and Raúl continues to distribute Bibles throughout the region.
We humbly ask for your prayers as Raúl presses forward in this Kingdom work. In the coming months, he plans to expand outreach to two additional villages, La Victoria and La Virgen. Please also lift him up as he begins coursework to earn a Bible diploma, equipping him further for the ministry ahead.
