Summer Listeners’ Conference

Each summer, we share an update on the courageous work of our long-term partner in Pakistan: Pakistan Christian Recording Ministries (PCRM). Under the faithful leadership of Reverend Akash Emmanuel, a Presbyterian pastor, PCRM continues to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in one of the most spiritually challenging regions of the world.
Despite the risks, PCRM is boldly adapting its outreach. With the help of generous supporters, they’ve expanded their social media presence, upgraded their technology, and continued to use radio broadcasts—a powerful tool that reaches thousands of the majority community who are increasingly open to the message of Christ.
A highlight of the year is PCRM’s Annual Listeners’ Conference, where seekers gather in secret to hear biblical teaching, ask hard questions, and experience Christian hospitality. This summer, 60 participants attended, double the number from last year. Remarkably, 50 were not yet believers. They came from across Pakistan—Punjabi, Urdu, Saraiki, Pashtoon, and Sindhi speakers—from cities like Karachi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and even the remote province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This year’s theme, “The Divine Concept of Sacrifice,” was chosen to coincide with Eid ul Azha, a Muslim festival centered on personal sacrifice. This timing opened the door for meaningful dialogue. Through sessions rooted in scripture, participants explored themes such as original sin, atonement, and God’s justice and mercy, all of which point to the necessity of Christ’s sacrifice for reconciliation with God.
The fruit? Several attendees chose to follow Jesus, a decision that, in Pakistan, can cost one’s family, livelihood, or even life. Yet they responded in faith. This is the power of the gospel. And this is why we stand with Rev. Akash and his team.
