Anxiously Awaiting

 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

A couple waits eagerly, maybe a little fearfully, for the arrival of their firstborn child. The world in which they live is in turmoil. They feel unsure and, despite being travelers in a town packed with people, they probably feel pretty alone. They find themselves in a new place, a new situation, and without familiar comforts. For thousands of years people across the world have faced similar anxiety-inducing situations.

This couple, however, has one thing none before – or since – have had. A specific mission, a calling, to bring God’s son into the world. They answered that call and with that brave act, they saved us all.

The Outreach Foundation is very new to me. A few short months ago I found myself, like Mary and Joseph, in an unfamiliar place feeling a little unsure and hesitant to start this new chapter; but God kept nudging me. Like Joseph after he learned of Mary’s pregnancy, I too had countless questions. Is this organization all it appears to be? Are the projects it funds truly partner led and focused? I had anxieties and fears, and yet, I knew I’d only find answers when I gave into God’s nudge.

So, here’s the not-so-secret thing I’ve learned: The Holy Spirit is burning deeply through The Outreach Foundation and its partners. Every project is prayed over and planned for with great intentionality. Partners are leaders and experts on their community needs. The Outreach Foundation doesn’t swoop in to decide what’s best for a community. These are real relationships and real people who are seeing God’s light in the work being done.

These incredible partnerships extend beyond the projects. The folks here at The Outreach Foundation work tirelessly to bring congregations and individuals alongside them to learn how the Holy Spirit is transforming lives and communities around the world. You’re cordially invited to be a firsthand witness to the work that’s bringing people to Jesus.

The Outreach Foundation invites us all to experience the world outside our borders and see God in the face of people who are so eager to claim a piece of the Lord’s kingdom for themselves. In a world that often feels so uncertain, that is something to be excited about.
