Scholarships for Presbyterian Students at the Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (PIASS), Rwanda
The mission of The Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (PIASS) in Rwanda is to provide well-trained graduates who are committed and equipped to serve the Lord and share His Good News with others. Essentially, the students are answering the call to action found in Romans 10:14:
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Students in the Bachelor of Theology and Religious Studies program are thoroughly trained from a theological view and become skilled in the practical application of biblical lessons in their unique context. Scholarships provided by The Outreach Foundation have helped students answer their call.
In addition to seven new students in their first year, the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR) has 30 students (men and women) in the second and third years of the program. Students become ordained after completing their degree and finishing a two-year pastoral internship. This is the fruit of The Outreach Foundation’s partnership.
The following testimonial from one of the scholarship recipients sheds light on just how valuable support from friends of The Outreach Foundation can be.
I’m a first-year student in the study of Theology. Studying Theology is an important subject because it has transformed both my personal life and my ministry. It has given me a deeper understanding of God's Word, strengthened my faith, and helped me to serve others with wisdom and confidence. Theology has taught me how to interpret Scriptures correctly, answer important questions, and find solutions to contextual challenges. I am also able to read the Bible in the original languages. I believe that studying Theology is not just about gaining knowledge, it's also about growing spiritually and becoming more effective in fulfilling God's calling. My thanks to the church sponsors who facilitated getting my scholarship. You have all contributed to my personal life, to my spiritual growth, to my theological knowledge, and to my ministry.
