Preparing The Way of the Lord: Elam Awakening Update
After conversations with a few of our Iranian mission partners during the recent ceasefire, we are humbled to share a few key messages from our brothers and sisters in Christ. The examples shared here are a small sampling of the ways the light of the Lord is shining in the dark and challenging circumstances that arise during times of global conflict.
“Be Our Voice”
There is a clear thread of concern that the voice of the everyday Iranian people is getting minimized. Since the events of January 8th and 9th, when people were violently killed in the streets by the Islamic Republic, and in the aftermath of military operations, around 90 million Iranians have effectively been cut off from access to the global internet. This ongoing shutdown has left the people of Iran voiceless and isolated.
Ministry Efforts Continue
Prayer cards delivered with groceries say:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not fear.
Safehouse Ministries is praying for you.”
Students in discipleship classes inside Iran endeavor to complete their classes. Instructors at Quest Academy have allowed more flexibility for students due to the extreme circumstances. However, as they study at home, students are, sadly, not excused from the surrounding destruction. One of the discipleship students who came to faith in Christ and was baptized along with her three children just last year, recently had a large part of her home damaged. This is not an isolated case; many ordinary families are suffering the same experiences.
Simmering just beneath the crisis in the country, an unusual spiritual openness is growing. Many people are quietly questioning long-held assumptions and there is a real hunger for truth, for meaning, and for God.
Many of our mission partners have adapted their ministry focus to include meeting the immediate basic needs of the people of Iran. Safehouse Ministries specializes in mentoring, equipping, and mobilizing Iranian youth to discover their God-given talents. As suffering has increased and resources decreased, the Safehouse team mounted an effort to help families meet immediate needs with food and care packages. The people who deliver the packages and pray with the recipients often have opportunities to share the gospel in the process.
Through it all, God has worked through Safehouse Ministries, Quest Academy, and numerous other ministries to draw people closer to Him.
Pray!
With gratitude, our Iranian brothers and sisters in Christ welcome your prayers. They ask you to pray:
for protection over ordinary people, especially the most vulnerable
for wisdom and courage among spiritual leaders inside and outside Iran
for endurance and deep faith for believers under pressure
for a genuine, just, and lasting transformation in Iran — led by its own people
for open hearts, as many are searching and asking deeper questions about life and God
for restoration of free access to the internet and an end to the regime-imposed silence
