Haiti Outreach Ministries — July 2022 Update

Executive Director Caroline Chambre Hammock recently shared news from Haiti Outreach Ministries (HOM):

Many happy activities have recently taken place at HOM — the “50/20” celebration honoring Pastor Leon and the Terre Noire church (Pastor Leon’s 50 years of ministry and the 20th anniversary of the Terre Noire church), university graduates from the HOM schools, a photo of our first 13th grade class, and more.

Additionally, construction at the Barye Fe secondary school has progressed beautifully. The new classroom building with computer lab is progressing on schedule, and the new kitchen was just painted! Both buildings will be ready for use when the 22-23 school year starts in September. The Outreach Foundation’s support for this expansion effort was a HUGE boost to achieving this — thank you!

Unfortunately, Haiti is still suffering mightily. The last two weeks in Cite Soleil (where we work) have been extremely violent as gangs battled each other, and innocent victims were caught in the crosshairs. Our staff remains safe, thank God. We did learn of a former student who was killed in the violence and pray for comfort for her family. In addition to the violence, Haiti is also experiencing hyperinflation, exacerbating hunger and daily survival. In light of all of these concerns, we just created a prayer card that we have been sharing with friends and supporters.

We cherish the prayers of The Outreach Foundation and give thanks for your friendship.

Peace,
Caroline
