Persian Diaspora Partnerships Update July 2025

In the Shadow of Crisis, the Light of Christ Shines

As the devastation continues for our Persian Diaspora partners, we hear new stories each day of how they continue to be the beacon of Christ’s light in difficult times. We have included a few of these partner stories below.

From International Antioch Ministries

We are overjoyed to share a powerful testimony from Brother Hossein, one of our courageous leaders in Iran. Amid the ongoing challenges of the Iran-Israel conflict, Hossein has opened his modest home to both believers and non-believers seeking refuge from fear and uncertainty. His heart burns with a passion to share the love of Jesus, and his home has become a sanctuary where the Gospel is proclaimed.

Despite the risks of persecution and the ever-watchful eyes of authorities, Hossein welcomes strangers with open arms, offering them food, shelter, and the hope of Christ. In his small living room, believers gather for prayer and worship in secret, while non-believers listen curiously to stories of Jesus’ love and grace. Through these acts of compassion, several non-believers have encountered the Gospel for the first time, and we rejoice that two individuals recently gave their lives to Christ, moved by Hossein’s kindness and the truth of God’s Word.

Hossein’s faith inspires us all. He says, “My home may be small, but God’s love is boundless. If I can share even a glimpse of His hope with someone who doesn’t know Him, it’s worth every risk.”

Thank you for standing with us and supporting leaders like Hossein, who shine as light in the darkness.

Following an unexpected ceasefire that came without explanation or resolution, a heavy wave of disappointment and confusion has swept across the country. Many had hoped the growing movement would bring lasting change, but instead, everything halted abruptly. The silence from the Supreme Leader—who has not been seen in over a week—has only deepened the unease. Reports now say nearly 750 ordinary citizens have been arrested, accused of espionage and conspiracy against the regime. With the nationalization of the internet, communication with the outside world has become nearly impossible, leaving many isolated and afraid. The atmosphere is one of fear, despair, and growing economic hardship.

And yet, in the midst of this darkness, the underground church is shining. Groups of faithful believers are standing firm in hope, offering light in places where it seems all other hope has been extinguished. Their quiet witness and unwavering presence are a powerful reminder that God is still moving, even in the most broken places. They are not just surviving, they are actively testifying to God’s presence and love in a climate of fear and uncertainty.

Our partners on the ground are responding with courage and compassion. Across several cities, teams are working urgently to collect and distribute food and essential supplies—bread, canned goods, meat—whatever they can gather. These faithful servants are doing their best to meet immediate needs and to show the love of Christ in practical, life-sustaining ways. Please continue to keep them in your prayers and consider how you might stand with them during this critical time.

From Rev. Sargez, Presbyterian Church of Bayern

In recent days, many friends have reached out, deeply concerned about the sudden end to the conflict and what it might mean for the people of Iran. We have shared our own fears, that in an effort to reclaim power and erase the sting of humiliation, the regime would respond with widespread arrests and violent repression, targeting innocent civilians to reassert control.

Tragically, these fears are now unfolding. As of this morning, more than 1,500 people have been arrested under vague or unjust accusations, some for simply recording short videos, sharing news updates, or expressing moments of joy. The numbers continue to grow daily.

In the face of such darkness, our Fellowship is persevering in prayer. Each night, we gather to intercede for our people and to cry out to God for justice, peace, and mercy. We have committed to extending these nightly prayers for another month, trusting that God hears and responds to the cries of the faithful.

.How You Can Pray and Respond

Your continued prayers and support are a vital encouragement as our partners stand in hope amid uncertainty.

  • Pray for protection and continued boldness for Brother Hossein as he opens his house to share the gospel.

  • Pray for wisdom, provision, and open hearts for the non-believers who find refuge with him, that many more may come to know Jesus as their Savior.

  • Pray for protection and strength for those who have been unjustly arrested, and for God’s presence to surround and sustain the families and faith communities living in fear.
