God can’t be happy with conditions in Haiti, the poorest country in our hemisphere. People living there face many obstacles to living peaceful and productive lives: from violence and political instability to lack of infrastructure and basic necessities like food and clean water.

Recently, an opportunity to help break the cycle of despair in Haiti gained our attention.

Haiti Transformational Learning Centers (Haiti TLC) is a Christian ministry dedicated to providing quality education and community strengthening in rural Haiti. Two years ago it built an Advanced Education Center in Belloc, a remote mountain region with no power and poor access.

That 1,400 square foot solar-powered building serves as a church, school for hundreds of students, a career development facility, and community gathering center. Can you imagine the spiritual and economic empowerment generated by such a new infrastructure?

Co-founder Jay Stauffer recently approached The Outreach Foundation with a partnership proposal to build a second education center eight miles away in remote Trouin.

Jay explains, “It will be a place where children are known, taught, protected, and encouraged. It will provide access to tools many rural Haitian students have never had: reliable electricity, computer training, internet access, clean drinking water, and safe classrooms.”

Before ground is even broken, the project requires a four-wheel drive truck that can access the remote site, a portable generator, and cement mixer. Jay’s plan is a fiscally responsible one that considers how each of these critical tools can be used even after the building is complete. The rest of the project includes everything from securing the land and pouring the foundation, to installing doors, windows and a roof. Jay’s plan draws on his past experience with construction of the first building, and anticipates the new building opening within 28 weeks of a January 2028 groundbreaking.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The need is great and the path to meet that need is even greater, but we know with your prayerful support, this task is not too small for God’s people.
