Devastating Floods in Rwanda

The Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR)

Rwanda recently experienced severe flooding which has caused extensive damage to homes and properties, leaving many families without basic necessities. These families are in desperate need of assistance. The Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR) is reaching out to request support in helping these families during their time of need.

Despite the Rwandan government's efforts to address the impacts of climate change, heavy rainfall caused significant damage on May 3. The resulting floods and landslides destroyed homes, businesses, and infrastructure, and claimed lives — to date, 130 lives lost, 5,100 homes destroyed, and 100 roads damaged.

Families affected have been left without food and shelter. Children, women, and elderly people have been hit the hardest, with many forced to seek refuge in crowded and unsanitary temporary shelters. This has made them vulnerable to diseases and other health risks. Without support, these families face an uncertain future.

The church has traditionally played a critical role in supporting vulnerable communities during times of crisis. This includes providing emergency relief, such as shelter, food, and medical care, as well as counseling and spiritual support to those who have experienced trauma and loss.

With your help, we can provide relief for those who have lost everything. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this devastating event.
