New Church Development in Egypt - October 2021 Update

A Simple but Strong Faith

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
    his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.
  Psalm 145: 3-4

As the number of people grew, they wanted to have their own building so Elder Khamis and his family gave a piece of land for a new building. He worked with the Presbytery to get a license to build the church in the village.

He might be a simple man wearing traditional Egyptian dress, but his faith is strong. After he went to be with the Lord, many pastors and elders from his Presbytery praised his life and the contributions he made to further God’s mission. His heritage of faith and his love for the Lord and the church give everyone an example of a real hero of faith.

The pastors who served with him are very thankful and are looking forward to the future when this church will be built and can serve even more people in the neighborhood. Please pray for church planting in Egypt as it has many challenges, but God is able to build his church through simple but faith-filled people.

Grace and peace,

Dr. Tharwat Wahba
Egypt Mission Consultant for The Outreach Foundation
Professor of Mission, Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo

The Outreach Foundation works closely with the Pastoral and Outreach Ministries Council of the
Synod of the Nile which has identified three areas in which God is calling the church to pursue outreach:
1) revitalization of village churches, some of them centuries old and primarily in Upper Egypt, 2) planting new churches in urban suburbs, and 3) planting new churches in the new “satellite” cities. The Council works very closely with the seminary in Cairo which is producing excellent students who are called and equipped for ministry in a remarkable season for the church’s mission.
