Home of Hope - December 2019 Update

Zimbabwe

A Wonderful and Amazing God

When we go outside at night and look at the stars and moon and how peaceful it is up there, we are reminded that God still exists as we see his beautiful creation. Psalm 147:4 says, “He counts the number of the stars; he calls them all by name.” We are certainly not alone. God who created everything is still with us. He is our greatest hope through his most precious gift to us, his son Jesus!

We would like to share an update on the Home of Hope ministries:

Education
School fees are very hard for most people to pay. Lack of food is also a problem for some school children because their parents or relatives can't afford it. How sad it is!!

We are thankful that with your provision, we can pay school fees for children in need so that they may continue their education. Some of the children are being cared for by their grandmothers, some are in a children’s home, some are homeless, and others are in families that can’t afford education. We thank God and all of you who help us so that we can help these precious ones.

Sewing Program
We are also grateful that we can help the ladies in the sewing program. These include both single and married mothers, girls who can’t afford school, and ladies that can’t find work. You have given them hope by helping them learn a skill and become self-employed. This year has been especially tough for many of them due to the high cost of transportation.

Lucy is doing a great job teaching them. She also shares the Word of God with them. Those who participate in the sewing program receive breakfast and lunch. We also help them with medicine and food to take home.

Feeding Program
We thank God for the help we receive so that we may continue to provide food for the destitute. We typically offer food every Monday. Unfortunately, bread has become too expensive to make available.

We distribute food, medicine, and soap to people of all ages. We always begin with a prayer and a song and encourage them to thank Jesus for the food and medicine. Mom also gives out food nearly every morning to children on their way to school who are hungry. We are grateful that several members of the CCAP Harare congregation recently donated food for us to distribute.

The Good News
The Good News of Jesus is still the greatest news that we can share. It’s a hope that never fades. All of our troubles will come to an end when we enter God’s Kingdom in Heaven. We give thanks for God’s grace in continuing to provide food for both the body and the soul.

We could not do this by ourselves. To all of you that have supported us with funds and prayers, we are grateful.

In Christ,

Joan and Craig Trevelyan

Note from Outreach
The sewing program at Home of Hope continues to do well. Gifts made through our Alternative Christmas Giving last year were very helpful. If you would like to help, you may send a gift designated for the sewing program which can help the ladies buy their materials and provide transportation and seed money for their own sewing machines.
