Dan & Elizabeth Turk - March 2020

Dear Friends,

The grand opening of the FJKM Fruit Tree Center at Mahatsinjo is just around the corner!

On March 19th and 20th, the FJKM President and invited guests will gather at Mahatsinjo 4 hours NW of the capital city to dedicate the new training center dorm and officially open the work of the Fruit Tree Center. This work began in 2016 with the purchase of land in “mango country.” The Fruit Tree Center now has 2 buildings and over 50 varieties of mangos planted out as well as other promising fruit tree species for Madagascar like cannistel. The Fruits, Vegetables, and Environmental Education (FVEE) Program of the FJKM that Dan works with have already conducted their first trainings of rural farmers with more planned for this year. The training opportunities for college students and graduates and for rural farmers have the potential to revolutionize mango production in the country and help bring farmers out of poverty.

As you can imagine, there is much to do to prepare for such a large event. We would appreciate your prayers as the final countdown occurs.

  • Please pray for safety on the road for Dan and his colleagues Rolland & Germain. They have at least 1 more trip before going down Wednesday, March 18th.

  • Please pray for all of the logistics involved that things will go smoothly. Please pray for health for the FVEE team as they prepare for the event and afterward.

  • Please pray that all who come will understand the importance of the work and the potential that it has and how development strengthens the witness of the church.

A special thanks to those who have helped along the way to help this vision become a reality.

Thank you all for your prayers & support at this time.

Peace in Christ,
Dan & Elizabeth
