Rwanda Church Construction - October 2017 Update

Dear friends,

We would like to share a joyful update sent to us by Outreach Mission Staff Stu Ross on the dedication of two churches in Rwanda. Stu traveled to Rwanda during World Communion Sunday weekend to dedicate Nyabubare Church on Saturday and Karambi Church on Sunday. Both churches are part of the Presbyterian Church of Rwanda (EPR) with whom The Outreach Foundation has a strong relationship.

Stu writes:

The dedications were well-attended by the congregations and leaders of the churches including the new President of the Zinga Presbytery, Rev. Daniel Dushimimana. Rev. Daniel told the congregations to remember where they came from.

The bulk of the work building these churches was done by the congregations. They made bricks, collected sand, brought water, collected stones, and did other manual labor. They, of course, also brought money. Almost all the members are subsistence farmers, and so don't have a lot of spare money. The hardest item for them to complete was the roof. All the materials for the roof must be purchased plus the labor is specialized. With your support, we helped complete the roofs for both churches. During the services, there was a lot of dancing and singing. It was a time of praising and thanking God, and everyone had a great time.

Zinga Presbytery is the newest and largest presbytery in the EPR. It is also the presbytery with the least number of church structures so therefore has the greatest needs. Please join us as we partner with the church in Rwanda, equipping them with capacity and empowering them to proclaim the good news as they also compete with prosperity gospel teachers and many new non-denominational movements which have been increasing in recent days.

The Presbyterian Church in Rwanda has several more churches to complete which The Outreach Foundation, with the help of you and all of our partners, will try to accomplish in 2018. We appreciate your support and hope you will continue partnering with us to come alongside the great work of the EPR in 2018.

The church in Rwanda also welcomes work teams to build relationships. Please let us know what we can do to help your congregation connect with a congregation in Rwanda.

Blessings,
Stu Ross
