Fueling Christ's Mission in China!

Chris Bin Wang, The Outreach Foundation China Mission Specialist, with ECO Pastor Rev. Mary Scott

The Outreach Foundation is pleased to introduce Chris Bin Wang as our China Mission Specialist. When asked about his excitement in joining The Outreach Foundation, Chris said “I am from China and have been passionate about bringing my people to faith in Christ through preaching, study, witness, and encouraging fellow Christians to pursue Christ-centered maturity and spiritual fruition. The Outreach Foundation has been a friend to Chinese Christians for decades. I’m honored to be part of this amazing legacy! While continuing to embrace a friendship with churches in China, we are fueling God’s movement among the diaspora of Chinese living in the U.S. Also, the time seems right to directly engage certain smaller yet closely networked ministries in China led by the emerging church leaders of the next generation.”

We are excited about The Outreach Foundation’s expanding ministry in China and for the emerging opportunities that will excite churches here in the United States. The word of the Lord is continually spreading in China, despite the increased pressure against Chinese Christians in recent years. The most remarkable Christian growth has happened among the college students, the professional marketplace, and the peasant migrant workers. They mostly reside in megacities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Suzhou. This phenomenal rise of the urban Christian movement in China merits serious engagement from our U.S. congregations, and there is much we can do. They have invited us back and into more provinces, praise the Lord!

Because of that invitation, Tom Boone, Associate Director for Mission with The Outreach Foundation and Chris Bin Wang will be co-leading a visioning trip from October 11-23, 2024. Individuals and churches are invited to travel with us as we see the tremendous work of the Gospel taking place in China. In our post-COVID world, media prevents us from knowing the incredible revival happening in China. Jesus said, “Come and see” (Jn 1:39) that we might be able to experience the kingdom of God on earth ourselves and then tell this story back home! There is hope, good news, and you can become witnesses and be in awe of what the Lord is doing in one of the most challenging spaces where Christians live and share the gospel today.

Trips like these are nothing new for the Presbyterian Church as we talk often about Presbyterian history in China. What’s exciting is that the Holy Spirit is still opening many avenues for us today! We hope that churches, pastors, staff, and church members will get involved in the work of our Chinese partners here at The Outreach Foundation. Our prayer is that God would transform your curiosity into a genuine conviction and call! Chris has lived in China for most of his life and worked in the church as a pastor for 12 years, so he is very familiar with how the church in China operates. What we offer in this season is to show you just how vast the harvest in China and the diaspora has become. Come and see!
