Dear friends,

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus. Our gratitude goes to all the people who have upheld this work from inception until now. Your prayers, labor and support are not in vain. We always have you in our prayers.

Graduations

Congratulations to Florence on her graduation from Uganda Christian University on October 21, 2016. With financial help from her sponsor, Florence began attending Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational School (KSVS) in 2007, the year the school opened for classes. She graduated with the first class of students. Her sponsor remained with her and offered her a scholarship to attend university.

Florence grew up in an indigenous farming family that lived very close to KSVS. Her mother was the main provider for the family, with help from the children, as Florence’s father had passed away. They all helped in farming their small plot of land. After graduation, Florence returned to KSVS to teach. She is excited about completing this part of her educational journey and returning to give back to her community, a primary goal for Partners in Mission. Several other students have graduated from institutions of higher learning, but she is one of our first students to graduate from a university along with Rebecca Kukundakwe, who graduated this year from Kyambogo University.

STEM Center Progress

The Science Technology Engineering and Math Center is steadily progressing. We are excited to report that with the receipt of a generous matching grant, we have almost fully funded phase two of the center. Construction on the second floor continues, and the concrete slab covering the third floor has now been put in place. We are grateful to God for each individual and institution participating in raising this building, indeed a Hope House as I have shared with some among you. May the Lord reward you abundantly.

Ten Year Celebration

In 2017, Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational School celebrates a decade of being in existence. We hope to have celebrations and thanksgiving for this milestone in late June. We look forward to sharing these moments with you. Pray for us as we plan and prepare for these celebrations. As a major component of the celebrations, we will be dedicating our own group of primary pupils as they prepare to become secondary students. There are currently 26 pupils we will be dedicating during these celebrations.
