Dear Friends,

Greetings from Seattle, WA! I have just returned from Charlotte after our board and staff meetings in Nashville. I was also back in our office in Franklin in early January for a consultation with two of our executive leaders. Both meetings provided opportunities to renew relationships and to meet new friends. It was an uplifting time.

Another round of edifying experiences happened during my study leave in March, which was spent in Hong Kong doing research on a Chinese intellectual leader who was on the faculty at Lingnan University. Lingnan is one of the 13 colleges affiliated with Protestant missions established in the late nineteenth century. This was part of a series I am writing on Chinese intellectual leadership during social upheaval in the early twentieth century among Christian colleges. What I discovered was encouraging, and I would be delighted to share with you if invited.

Prior to my trip to Hong Kong, I visited a Presbyterian mission co-worker serving in Taiwan. My time there was spent finalizing the planning of the visit of two delegations in the second half of the year. I went away spiritually renewed after our brief time together then took a few days off to visit our partners in China mainland. I was able to do some follow up on both the Sunday School curriculum development and the lay leadership development projects. I was also blessed with the opportunity to send 20 copies of the leadership study Bible to a training center in the southwest region through a ministry partner in the coastal area.

A supporting church in Hong Kong invited me to accompany its mission team to the Philippines over a long weekend, where I gave a lecture on the development of pastoral leadership at a Bible college and attended the graduation of a number of the Bible students supported by the church. It was a thrilling journey.

I hope you are just as excited about God’s mission. Do keep a closer walk with Christ.

Yours in Him,

Peter
