Don and Martha Wehmeyer (Antioch Partners) - November 2014 Update

Mérida, Mexico

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in the name of the Lord! Martha and I would like to share our gratitude with all our partners in ministry this Thanksgiving holiday. Every church, every brother and sister in Christ who has prayed for and supported us is a blessing from God. As we get older the fact that God has worked in so many hearts amazes us more and more. We have known his promises in the sacred Scriptures are true, but now we know they are really, really true!

This Thanksgiving we will join my mother and her husband along with my brother and sister and some others at her house in Georgetown, Texas. This year Kristen wants us to meet someone special she is bringing…. Do you have advice for interviewing potential son-in laws? Please pray for our time together as I have not met Norlis, and of course we want the Lord’s most perfect match for our daughter.

Martha has several quilts on display in the annual Del Rio quilt show. I have started a review process with several brothers in Christ from here in Del Rio to review my paraphrase of Calvin’s treatise “On the Life of the Christian Man.” It continues to be a real challenge, but when done I believe we will have made a classic of the Protestant reformation accessible to a lot of new readers.

Martha and I would also like to share with you a special development in our ministry. As you know we are serving the Lord as TAP Partners (The Antioch Partners). In October 2015 they have called all their partners from around the world to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a week long retreat. It will be a time of spiritual renewal, worship and education. As you can imagine this is a huge endeavor, and we are looking forward to the event. TAP is committed to providing this first retreat at no cost to the partners which is a huge blessing to us. In preparation for this retreat TAP has given us the opportunity to share with you a challenge that has come about. A supporter of TAP has pledged $25,000 asking individual supporters to match their grant. We would like to invite you to consider being a part of this challenge. No amount is too small. Please send your gift to: The Antioch Partners, 7132 Portland Ave. Suite 136, Richfield, MN 55423 or go to the web page: www.theantiochpartners.org to donate online. It is easy to select Partner Retreat from the drop down menu under the donation tab.

We plan to be in Mérida in January to work at the retreat center and attend the presbytery meeting there. I will also set up our calendar for retreats and courses in Mérida for 2015. We hope to offer a workshop for cross cultural training this year in Chablekal. Then the last two weeks of the month I will be in Vallenar, Chile with another pastor as we have been invited to give a spiritual formation workshop for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Chile. We are beginning to schedule visits to our supporting churches near the East coast. Please let us know if you would like a visit and potential dates.

The pilgrims at Plymouth Rock were Calvinists and knew the importance of committing their whole lives to the Lord; they were not just Sunday morning Christians! They have set a high standard for life together. Can it be that all Americans follow their example and have a great diversity of languages and cultures gathered around the table to share a meal and give thanks to God for his bountiful blessings? We pray it will be so.

“Oh Christ Jesus, may your death be my life, your labor my repose, your human weakness my strength.”

Happy Thanksgiving!
