I have returned to Lebanon for the 23rd time and have brought with me a team of eight women from California, South Carolina, Nebraska, Washington, D.C. and Indiana! In the days ahead, we will meet with partners whose ministries with refugees from Syria and Lebanon are bringing hope and healing in Christ’s name. We will experience much of the gracious hospitality so very typical of the Middle East and glimpse some of the sights of this sophisticated culture whose roots go back to the ancient Phoenicians. In this small country, no bigger than the state of Connecticut, we will breathe the cool, clear air of the mountains and drink in the warm sun of the Mediterranean shoreline. But the “main event” of our time there will be week-long retreat and conference attended by close to 100 women from the Presbyterian churches of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon. Our long days together will give ample time for worship, Bible study, learning, fellowship and fun. We will sit long at meals, talk late into the night, share stories of our faith and of God’s faithfulness – all interspersed with a few tears and much laughter. It will be Holy Ground – we are prepared to take off our shoes. Thanks for being with us on our journey!
