Agents of Hope and Transformation
During this time of unrest in Venezuela, churches there have been able to serve their communities as centers for food distribution, nurturing both body and spirit. Associate Director for Mission for The Outreach Foundation, Juan Sarmiento, who is originally from Venezuela and has family affected by these dire circumstances, is seeing first-hand the breadth of spiritual transformation happening in Latin America and beyond.
Juan Sarmiento resources congregations in their missional renewal and builds networks for participation in God’s mission. He served as Evangelism Catalyst at the Presbyterian Mission Agency and U.S. Director of PM Internacional, an organization that ministers holistically in several Muslim majority countries. Juan has been a pastor in English, Portuguese and Spanish speaking congregations and very active as a trainer and speaker in the areas of church planting, leadership development and cross cultural outreach. His formal education for ministry includes Columbia, Louisville, San Francisco and Fuller Theological Seminaries. He is a member of the American Society of Missiology.
