John Knox Theological Center
in Cobán, Guatemala

About Our Partner

The Evangelical National Presbyterian Church of Guatemala (IENPG)

The John Knox Theological Center in Cobán is part of a comprehensive Presbyterian ministry campus that is being expanded to include a dormitory, chapel, guest house, dining hall, water purification system and manse. The theological training program, directed by the IENPG, is in its seventh year with 50 indigenous theology students plus 22 teachers from the La Patria Norte School studying theology at the complex. This program equips pastors and church leaders to be more effective in proclaiming the Good News and expanding God’s Kingdom in their communities. Mission co-worker Philip Beisswenger (The Antioch Partners) serves as the coordinator. The center’s foundation, frame and roof are completed. Funds are needed:

• to finish construction including interior and exterior walls, painting, flooring, plumbing and electrical work

• for furnishings (bunkbeds, desks, tables, shelves, etc.)

• for travel costs for professors

The Impact

Missionary Philip Beisswenger is serving the development of this training center in Cobán which will help to equip indigenous church leaders for ministry in the northern presbyteries of Guatemala.

The Need

The Outreach Foundation is seeking gifts totaling $25,000 to assist the John Knox Theological Center ($10,000 for remaining construction, $13,000 for furnishings, and $2,000 for the travels costs of professors).
