About Our Partner
Rich Hansen has ministered as a professional leadership coach since he completed the rigorous credentialing process of the International Coach Federation in 2016. His goal is to encourage, equip, and empower African leaders who share a common challenge: meeting the ever-expanding needs of their fast-growing churches to share the gospel, make disciples, and impact their societies for Christ.
To equip African leaders for spiritual, organizational and missional effectiveness, Rich draws on 40 years of pastoral experience leading transformational change. In 1989, he arrived as pastor of a church with low self-esteem and an aging congregation. The Lord worked through Rich’s ministry, and when he left two decades later, a majority of members were under 65, the staff and church budget had grown greatly, hundreds of people participated in weekly discipleship small groups, and missional passion blossomed into many dynamic local and international gospel-sharing projects.
Rich also equips a new generation of African leaders by teaching in theological institutions. From 2010-2014, he and his wife Marilyn served as PC(USA) mission co-workers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where Rich taught Systematic Theology and served as Academic Dean at the Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology (EGST). Teaching across five diverse MA degree programs, Rich dug deep into Ethiopian and African culture. In addition to his ongoing relationship with EGST, Rich has been training students from several African nations in preaching at Justo Mwale University in Lusaka, Zambia.
The need for high-capacity African leaders of all ages is never greater than it is today! Rich helps leaders gain deeper clarity about their challenges and opportunities, develop a God-given vision, and then take realistic action steps to achieve that vision.
Through confidential trusting relationships, Rich helps leaders explore, envision, and implement transformational change within their organizations. Rich also trains church, denominational and NGO leaders in practical coaching skills. As they coach and mentor their people, leaders discover their entire organizations become more effective and resilient. Equipping leaders to invest in other leaders becomes a powerful win/win!
Rich currently coaches leaders from the two largest denominations in Ethiopia, as well as other partners in Ethiopia and Zambia. He hopes to expand his ministry into other African nations as God leads. Learn more and read updates about Rich’s ministry at www.rich-hansen.com/africa/.
