Vulnerable Children's Fund

Good Stewardship for Efficiency, Transparency, and Successful Partnership

The mission of The Outreach Foundation is to engage Presbyterians and global partners in proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ in words and deed. Over ten years ago, The Outreach Foundation saw a huge need to engage in ministering to vulnerable children in Africa. Particularly, children living in the streets of Africa were growing in numbers.

Rev. Bill Warlick, Southern Africa Mission staff, and Projects Coordinator Ebralie Mwizerwa travelled to Zambia and Zimbabwe in 2012 for a field evaluation with leaders of vulnerable children’s ministries supported through The Outreach Foundation. The aim was to determine the relevance and fulfillment of objectives, development of efficiency, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability. Ministries to orphans and vulnerable children present a unique way to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by bringing orphans and abandoned children into secure families, schools, and communities, however challenging that might be.

Together with our partners at Namumu Orphanage Center, Lovemore Home, Crisis Nurseries, and Home of Hope, we assessed and analyzed specific ways to achieve our goals to care for these vulnerable souls. We have witnessed lasting impact and the transforming power of the gospel in the lives of the children being served by each ministry supported through this partnership. We explored both intended and unintended results. Together with our global partners we set new goals and new strategies for the next three years. The unintended results provided lessons, but for the most part we saw significant accomplishments and potential. Together we recommended actions leading to improvement.

Grateful for your support for vulnerable children,
