For almost two years, the Synod has worked diligently to address the crisis faced by its churches in Syria whose members in places like Homs and Aleppo have been displaced by the war. This visit of solidarity is intended to encourage the Church there through these difficult times while also discerning ways in which we can most effectively provide support and partnership at this critical time, while allowing congregations and individuals who have supported the Syria Relief Appeal through The Outreach Foundation to experience the situation first-hand. We will meet with displaced families and learn of the complex relief initiatives of the Synod from the Rev. Salam Hanna, who is directing operations, as well as from Dr. Mary Mikhael (recently retired President of Near

Women's Trip to Rwanda
July 4-16, 2013
In the African culture, women often work harder than men. In several African countries, including Rwanda, Christian women are leaders in the church and some have high positions in the leadership of the country. It is said that in Rwanda, women hold 53% of government’s key positions. They have made incredible contributions to the rebuilding as well as to the reconciliation of the nation of Rwanda after the genocide of 1994. The Outreach Foundation’s women’s trips offer an opportunity for U.S. Presbyterian women pastors, elders, deacons, and mission committee members to visit Rwanda, enjoy fellowship with their Presbyterian sisters, and encourage, learn and, embrace the cultural diversity in Rwanda. It will also offer an opportunity to work alongside Rwandan women, feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, building churches - an opportunity to witness the reconciliation and healing that has taken root in the nation and

Come meet the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Cuba! During this trip the group will stay mainly in Matanzas, where the Evangelical Theological Seminary will host us, but we will also spend several nights in Havana. Along the way we will be learning from church leaders and visiting congregations of the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Cuba. We will have opportunity to learn about the history and culture that shape the ministry context for our partners to the south. This trip is intended to encourage pastors and mission leaders to explore the possibility of developing a new mission partnership for their congregation in Cuba. Congregations who are already connected to Cuba through The Outreach Foundation are also welcome to apply.

Egypt
November 8-16, 2013
Join the Rev. Nancy Fox and Marilyn Borst in Egypt this fall to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Cairo, which is training the next generation of leaders for the 400+ Presbyterian churches in Egypt and beyond. Egypt is a land with a long, grand, and diverse history; this history includes the amazing stories of God’s church. We will also visit new church developments in the “suburbs” and “satellite cities” around Cairo, meet current and future church leaders, and be inspired by the church’s bold and progressive mission vision even as our presence there will encourage local Christians. Estimated land cost, $1,300; estimated airfare, $1,300.
