DEVELOPMENT OF SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM FOR CHURCHES

The percentage of younger generation in China is increasing every year. The Christian church has been ministering to the children since its reopening. The children's Sunday school of CYC is one of the largest in the country. The church has been using materials from overseas and found it rather troublesome to make changes every Sunday for the purpose of decontextualization in order for the content to be appropriate for use in CYC's context. However, there is not much room for contextualization as materials were developed for other audiences. In 2007, CYC pastor and the children's Sunday school teachers accepted the challenge to be trained to develop their own curriculum. The whole curriculum development might take up to six years to complete. The curriculum consists of guides and teaching aids for teachers, workbooks for students, and supplementary church holidays' specials will be written and published toward the end of the process.

Minimum goal:  $10,000 - per year for curriculum
