SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION
KENYA

It is Maasai custom to betroth daughters when they are very young, sometimes even when they are infants.  Often girls are sent to the husband as soon as they reach puberty because the girl's family gets dowry money immediately.  So a very young girl may be sent to a middle-aged man.

Women have few options in the Maasai culture if the family isn't Christian.  If they have a chance to get an education and hear the Gospel, these girls have a much better chance to make decisions for themselves instead of being sent from one family to another without any choice.  Even the Kenyan government is trying to discourage some of the traditional practices that can harm these girls.  Your support shaped the lives and future of these girls by supporting construction of a school for them.  Funds are needed for equipping classrooms and dormitories at the Kimelok girls' school.

Minimum goal:  $20,000 - Building and equipping classrooms and dormitories at Kimelok girls' boarding schools
