PCEA EVANGELIST TRAINING
KENYA
The Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) is growing at a rate of approximately 300,000 new members annually. The biggest need for the PCEA church now is new churches and training new ministers. Currently, one minister is serving six churches on average. Some are serving up to 20 churches.
The Presbyterian College in Kikuyu is the primary theological school of the PCEA. The cost of training a minister there is about $1,500 per year. We were able to train 15 more in 2006 through this program. Funds are needed for extra 8 ministers in 2008.
In Maasai Land where the church growth is exploding, The Outreach Foundation, in partnership with the PCEA has been helping in church building and training evangelists. In 2004, we trained 25 new evangelists and built several churches. In 2005, we trained an additional 15 evangelists and brought the first group back in for additional training.
Amount needed: $12,000 - Train pastors and evangelists for newly planted churches
